Founded in 1963, Lichtenstein Consulting Engineers, Inc. (formerly A.G. Lichtenstein & Associates, Inc.) provides complete services on transportation projects from each of its offices. Lichtenstein has been ranked in the Engineering News Record listing of the top 500 Design Firms for the last 12 years, and was recently ranked number eight of all firms in the nation specializing in bridges. The firm presently maintains a permanent diversified experienced staff of over 200, including more than 70 licensed professional engineers.
The professional staff consists of bridge, highway, civil, railway, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and geotechnical engineers, environmentalists, surveyors, historians, and construction inspectors.
Lichtenstein enjoys a national reputation as “problem solvers” specializing in complete engineering services from the inspection and analysis of major bridges to the rehabilitation of complex structures, design of fixed and movable, highway and railway bridges and restoration of historic bridges. The firm has provided engineering services nationally on thousands of bridges for federal, state and local transportation agencies.
Lichtenstein has substantial highway engineering expertise in design and reconstruction of interstate highways, urban expressways, and state and local road systems. The firm’s bridge and highway design capabilities are supported by in-house survey and geotechnical departments.
The Lichtenstein firm has authored several industry standards, including the AASHTO Manual for Condition Evaluation of Bridges, the Manual for Inspection, Evaluation and Maintenance of Movable Bridges, and the Manual for Load Rating Through Nondestructive Load Testing, all products of TRB/NCHRP sponsored research programs.
